New Era College started mainly as a teaching institution.
Nonetheless, its parent body, the Dong Jiao Zong Higher Learning
Center has all along been conducting international seminars and research
work on education and culture that are of interest to the community.
In the same campus, our Malaysian Chinese Education Associations,
Dong Jiao Zong already employ full-time researchers to work on these
issues. |
|
In June 2002, the College established an Academic Research Center with
a full-time coordinator to encourage research work by its academic staff.
At the same time, students’ academic exercises will be coordinated
with research work of interest to the community.
The Research Unit pursues long-term academic
research of each department besides social scientific issues including
education, language, culture, ethnic relations, history, politics,
economics, mass media as well as East Asian and international studies.
Each department in the College runs periodic
workshops and seminars in the campus as part of their regular activities.
We try to hold at least a national or international conference each
year.Research findings and academic reports will be
published in the College Academic Journal.
Our aim is to develop the Research Unit at New Era College into a reputable
multi-disciplinary research center in Malaysia.
