1. How is New Era College different from other private colleges?
New Era College is a non-profit and community-funded tertiary institution. As a result, our tuition fees are relatively low as compared with other private colleges.

2. Does New Era College recruit students only from Chinese High Schools?
No, we accept students from both SMK/SMJK and independent high schools. The ratio for Chinese High School students to SMK/SMJK students is 60:40.

Questions related to courses:

1. What is Associate Degree?
Associate Degree refers to the first two years of a Degree course. After completing the associate degree, students can transfer their credits to our sister Universities and spent another 1 year for 2+1 twinning program (commonwealth countries) and 2 years for 2+2 twinning programs (China and Taiwan).

2. After completing the Associate Degree, must I go abroad immediately?
No. After students graduate from New Era, they can either join the work force or continue with their bachelor's degree. We suggest they complete their degree courses within two years after they graduate from New Era.

3. How long is a semester?
A long semester takes up 14 weeks but a short semester is 7 weeks. There are 2 long semesters and 1 short semester in an academic year.

4. Are lectures all delivered in Mandarin?
Business courses (lecture, tutorial, assignment or exam) are fully conducted in English since these courses follow our partner's Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand. Chinese Studies courses are be conducted in Mandarin, while IT, Media, Performing Arts, Counseling and Guidance Psychology and Art & Design courses are using English and Chinese , depending on the lecturers.

5. Is the qualification obtained from New Era be recognized by our government?
As long as our courses have been approved by LAN, the National Accredition Board, they are recognized by the Ministry for Higher Education.

6. Does New Era College arrange practical training/industrial training for students?
Industrial training is an elective paper. Business Administration, Media and Art & Design Departments will help to arrange industrial training for senior year students every year and the duration for industry training is 2 to 3 months. Students will be given a certificate of performance.

7. Are text books or reference materials included in tuition and miscellaneous fees?
Student purchase their own text books. This is not included in the tuition fees and miscellaneous fees. Usually, lecturer will give a list of text books and references that are needed and our administrators will arrange for dealers for students. Students also can borrow reference books from our library.

Question related to accommodation

1. How much are the accommodation fees?
Accommodation fee is RM160 per month, including electricity, water & internet connection charges. Students have to pay rental for the academic year and 1 month's deposit when they register for a course.

2. Are there rules on staying out late in campus?
Yes, the main gate shut at 12 pm, those who need to come back late will need to apply for approval.

3. How many persons share a room?
There are rooms for 3 persons, 5 persons and 7 persons. Rooms and beds are allocated by the administration.

4. Can we have all meal in the campus?
Yes, our canteen operates from 7am to 8pm daily. Students can have all their meals there.
