Course Introduction:

This is a three-year higher diploma level programme. It provides pathways that enable students to complete their degree from our partner universities in 1 to 2 years. In this program you will develop your skills and knowledge as a textile & fashion designer, directing your work towards fashion outcomes which demonstrate an understanding and application of textile design. Students articulate their ideas through an exploration of the inter-relationship between pattern, color and surface and its application on the body.
The relationship between textiles and fashion is fundamental to this diploma course with particular attention to fabric development and three dimensional garment shapes. The modules in this program are designated to allow you to develop the conceptual, creative and technical skills associated with the fashion & textile industry. The content of some modules will be grounded in professional and industrial practice; others will be more experimental and conceptual while final year modules will consolidate your combined practice in fashion and textiles. Students will discover the historical traditions of fashion and textile and explore what is happening in contemporary fashion and textile practice.
