New Era University College Library is located on the ground floor of Block B. It occupies a total floor area of about 30,000 square feet spreading over three levels. Level One comprises the service counter, reference section, Chinese/English/Bahasa Malaysia books section, Tay Lian Soo Collection and magazines section. Level Two consists of Resource Centre for Nanyang University, Fang Xiu Collection Section, Lee Yip Lim Collection Section, Yong Ching Fatt Collection Section, reading section, computer area and 4 discussion rooms. Level Three houses the leisure reading section, Lee Kim Chong Collection Section, Chinese books section and the library office. The library has about 380 seats for reading, library also provide wireless internet service. The operation of the library is fully computerized. Through the OPAC system, students can check on book information, renew their borrowed books and place their bookings for specific books.

Mr. Fang Xiu started his lifelong work on studying and collecting Chinese Literature and historical data since the late 1950s. Up until 2008, for approximately half a century, he has put in all his effort into perfecting his work. His family gifted his personal collection of books, correspondence, notes, and manuscripts to New Era University College following his passing. The Fang Xiu Collection was established by the Tan Lark Sye Library of New Era University College on 30 May 2015.

The Si Ku Quan Shu, often translates into Complete Library in Four Sections, or Imperial Collection of Four, is the largest collection of books in Chinese history. The collection was divided into four sections, namely Jing 经 (Classics), Shi史 (Histories), Zi 子 (Masters) and Ji 集 (Collections) that are further divided into 66 subsections. It includes almost all literary work from the Qin (秦) to the Qing (清) Dynasty, covering almost every branch of knowledge available in ancient China. The editorial and compilation work began in 1773 and ended in 1973, utilizing enormous efforts in the process that makes it the greatest literary creation of all time. With a generous heart, Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew gifted the complete collection to the Tan Lark Sye Library and a section for the collection was established on April 2011. The collection includes 1,500 books and was published by The Commercial Press Ltd from Taiwan.

Nanyang University was founded in 1955 with the intention of providing higher education to the Chinese community. This revolutionary act was led by a group of like-minded people. With the fund that was collected from the community, the university was up and running on 15 March 1956. It was the only Chinese language private university at the time (1955-1980). To keep Nanyang University in remembrance, the Nanyang University Resource Centre was established on 5 September 2014. As a researcher, Mr. Lee Yip Lim devoted himself to the historical study of Malaysia and Southeast Asia. Over the years, Mr. Lee Yip Lim accumulated copious knowledge and experience in said field. His collection of ten thousand books were then bought by Malaysian entrepreneur Mr. Lim Soon Tiong and were gifted to the Tan Lark Sye Library of New Era University College. Lee Yip Lim Collection was established on 24 September 2017.

As the first expert in the study of Chinese Literature and its history in Malaysia, Mr. Lee Kim Chong’s collection includes ten thousand books and magazines, authors’ manuscripts, correspondence, and newspaper clippings. His family gifted his collection to the Tan Lark Sye Library of New Era University College after his passing. The Lee Kim Chong Historical Collection of Malaysian Chinese Literature was then established on 8 December 2018 in order to memorialize Mr. Lee’s good work and his emphasis on examinations of original documentations.

Dr. Yong Ching Fatt dedicated himself to the studies of Chinese political history in Singapore and Malaysia during the British colonial era and was renowned for his contribution to this field of study. Before his passing, Dr. Yong Ching Fatt gifted his entire collection of books, documentation, and research materials to New Era University College. His kind gesture has not only benefited the students but also broaden the field of academic research. The Yong Ching Fatt Collection was established on 31 March 2019 in order to memorialize Dr. Yong’s good work and his emphasis on the importance of examinations of original documentations.

Professor Tay Lian Soo is Malaysia’s leading Sinology scholar. He devoted himself to Chinese Studies and is renowned for his contribution in the field. Moreover, Professor Tay Lian Soo was also a committed educator who dedicated himself to the teaching of Chinese language and the study of Chinese history and culture. The Tay Lian Soo Collection was established on 19 November 2021.
