The Bachelor Degree (Honours) in Counselling and Psychology (MQA/PA4734) are designed as four years degree programme where the students need to complete 123 credits hours in their first three years to prepare themselves for the internship at Year 4 across two trimesters (6 credit hours). With completion of 129 credit hours, the students will be awarded the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Counselling and Psychology.
The curriculum of this program is designed above and beyond the Ministry of Education Malaysia and Malaysian Board of Counsellor’s Standards and Requirements of Training for Counsellors. Therefore, graduate of this program are eligible for application as registered counsellors (Kaunselor Berdaftar).
This program covers the major fields in psychology, counselling and guidance. Students will be trained in three aspects: Theoretical, Supervised Counselling Practicum and Internship Training. To equip students with the professional knowledge and skills, the program will introduce students with the latest and different perspectives of psychology and counselling theories, counselling skills, interviewing techniques and the development of psychology counselling. According to latest researches in psychology philosophy and counselling approaches, students will learn to deal with psychological and mental health issues, individual/group/family therapies through systematic and scientific assessments, evaluations and appropriate interventions.

This is a preparation program for professional registered counsellors. Graduates of this program are eligible to apply for counsellor registration to widen their career path. They may also find employment in work related to psychology, counselling, social work, or human resource management either in the corporate sector or non-profit organizations such as community service centres, education setting, learning institutions or counselling centres. Moreover, they also can choose to further their studies in any related field (e.g. Clinical Psychology, Criminology Psychology, Educational Psychology etc.) or non-related field (e.g. Master in Business Administration, Management, Human Resource, Anthropology etc.) in other local or abroad universities.

Saturday: 8:30am - 12:30pm
