Course Introduction

The Bachelor Degree (Honours) in Counselling and Psychology programme (MQA/PA4734) has been offered since March 2017. This four-year undergraduate programme comprises two parts. Firstly, in the first three years, students will have to complete 123 credit hours of coursework followed by a 6-semester credit hours of internship in the final year. Upon successful completion of 129 semester credit hours, students will be awarded the Bachelor in Counselling and Psychology (Hons) Degree.

During the course, students will participate in role plays, classroom demonstrations, and active group discussions. They will analyse the interactions between human behaviours, emotions, cognitions, and environmental/cultural factors through individual or group research and data analysis, and then apply them in providing effective counselling services to clients. Students will develop valuable transferable skills such as helping skills in human services, psychological testing, research, analytical, leadership and communication.

The course leads to successful careers where knowledge and training in counselling and psychology are applicable. The career opportunities include  mental health counselling providers as well as in the fields of education, marketing, and human resource development. Graduates from NEUC will be able to perform their tasks ethically, professionally, and competently.
