Course Introduction

This programme centers on cinematic creation, integrating theory and practice to cultivate professionals with artistic sensibility, creative vision, and humanistic values. Students train in directing, screenwriting, cinematography, editing, production management, and festival curation, mastering visual storytelling. Interdisciplinary learning and industry partnerships build critical thinking, aesthetic depth, and practical experience. Graduates are prepared for careers in film, television, new media, and the wider global creative industries.

  • Practical Production Techniques
    Video Editing, Digital Video Production, Film Editing, Short Film Production, Documentary Filmmaking, Voice Acting & Production, Graduation Production, Topics of Cinematography and Lighting, Topics of Production Design.

  • The Art of Script Writing & Directing
    Introduction to Cinematic Arts, Script Appreciation, Fundamentals of Screenwriting, Fundamentals of Film Directing, Advanced Screenwriting, Narrative Directing Analysis, Acting Fundamentals, Acting for Screen.

  • Entrepreneurial Skills
    Production Management, Project Development and Pitching, Field Research Methodology, Curation and Management, Career Development, Industrial Training, Interdisciplinary Visual Practice.Advertising Narrative.

  • Humanistic & Aesthetic Sensibilities
    History of Cinema, Aesthetic Appreciation, Special Topics in Film, Documentary Studies, Visual Culture Studies, World Cinema Studies.Philosophy of Art, Cinema in Anthropology, Film Genre Analysis, Film and Literature.

Minimum Entry Requirement
  • STPM: Pass with a minimum of Grade C (CGPA 2.0) in 2 subjects.
  • UEC: 5 Credits.
  • Diploma: Diploma in Performing Arts (CGPA 2.0) from New Era University College.
  • Foundation: Foundation Programmes (CGPA 2.0) from New Era University College or other local tertiary institutions.
  • A Level / Other qualifications: Deemed equivalent by MQA.
  • Note: Pass an interview or submit a portfolio as required.
