Course Introduction

Diploma in Digital Media Design introducing aspiration to 2D and 3D animation, game design, interface design (UI), user experience design (UX) and video production. The students will discover the latest digital trends and practices in contemporary creative media strategies and processes and able to build a broad foundation in digital media skills and concepts, including idea generation, storyboarding, visual narrative, digital video, motion graphics, web and interactive design with innovative and creative thinking and graduate with industry-based design practice experience. This course is the perfect stepping stone for an exciting career in digital media production.

YEAR 1

Students will be introduced to the key aspects of the histories and theories of design, technical skills, design thinking and practice in the field of digital media design. Students’ work will be supported by weekly technical demonstration sessions to enhance their digital skills. They will also be engaged in other practical workshops.

YEAR 2

Students will begin to think more professionally about digital media context. They will have opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge gained in the first year to explore and do research on design principles and theories. They will be required to get involved in working practices in audio visual techniques, creative media design and practices on media production.

YEAR 3

Students will sharpen their creativity by focusing on their professional interests to identify dynamic design solutions to create a distinctive and industry-ready portfolio which applicable to creative industries and various sectors.

Minimum Entry Requirement

  1. Possess Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with at least credit in three (3) subjects; OR
  2. Unified Examination Certificate (UEC): Pass with minimum 3 Grade Bs in any subjects; OR
  3. Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM) Level 3/Sijil Vokasional Malaysia (SVM) (Note: The Higher Education Provider (HEP)s are to conduct screening and provide necessary guidance specific to the discipline of the programme); OR
  4. A Certificate [Level 3 Malaysian Qualifications Framework, (MQF)] in relevant field with at least Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00; OR
  5. A pass in Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) with at least Grade C (Grade Point 2.00) in any subject; OR
  6. A pass in Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) with at least Grade Maqbul; OR
  7. Other relevant equivalent qualifications recognised by the Malaysian Government; AND
  8. Pass an interview (online/virtual/conventional) OR submission of student's portfolio, to be determined by the HEP as required.

English Competency Requirement (International Students):

Achieve a minimum score of High Band 2 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) or equivalent to Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) Mid B1.
