Course Introduction

The Diploma in Visual Arts program develops a creative approach to a variety of art techniques and knowledge through a strong combination of theory and practical study, aimed at those wishing to establish a career as an art practitioner. As technology and media continue to evolve, Visual Arts graduates need to be equipped with a wide range of knowledge and skills in the fields of art and design. Thus, the program covers areas of specialization and emphasis is given to artistic expression and communication skills. Art and design play an important role in our society, especially in the commercial world where the creative field is increasingly challenging. The program will introduce the role and influence of art and design in today’s world and prepare students for their part as active and practicing artists in society.

Programme Modules *

YEAR 1

Students will be introduced to key aspects of design history and theory, technical skills, design thinking and practice in art and design. Students’ work will be supported by weekly technical demonstration sessions to aid their design skills, and they will also be involved in other practical workshops.
