The newly-established NEUC Graduate School is designed to provide close supervision to graduate students in pursuit of further education in their chosen fields, in particular for those pursuing a graduate degree by research. Conceived as a research cum teaching hub, with teaching and research reinforcing each other, the Graduate School will develop a core research agenda of key themes and research projects that will guide the work of both faculty and graduate students.
The NEUC Tan Lark Sye Library with its extensive collection of Chinese language materials, enriched recently by three personal collection endowments containing valuable research material on Chinese society in Southeast Asia, will serve as an important resource for the Graduate School. Further personal collection endowments, especiallly of English language books and materials, will be solicited from leading Malaysian scholars. The aim is to establish a specialized, multi-lingual, Southeast Asia Research Collection in Kajang that will serve our graduate students and other researchers, as well as the general reading public in the country.
The Graduate School logomark describes a bird’s-eye view of a pyramid with its peak. It signifies the pursuit of research excellence led by the institution.
The form, comprising two triangles, is an abstraction of the letter ‘N’ in NEUC’s logomark thus paying homage to its parent, New Era University College. Similarly, green has been reserved as the Graduate School’s corporate colour.
