    Although the study of Chinese villages and towns has become popular in recent years with the academic community having published many works, the existing research outcomes are always disproportionate to the number of Chinese villages and towns.

    To this end, the Department of Southeast Asian Studies has made "Research on the History of Chinese Villages and Towns in Malaysia" as the theme of this "Southeast Asian Studies Lecture Series", with the hope to educate the public as well as to cherish local history and culture. The goal is to attract more people in the research of Chinese villages and towns.
