The curriculum emphasizes practical learning, enabling students to not only acquire knowledge and skills but also enhance creativity and foster communication and expression abilities through hands-on courses. The department actively establishes connections with professional theatre practitioners and filmmakers both domestically and internationally to broaden students' perspectives and thinking. Graduates can pursue various careers, including directors, screenwriters, actors, production management, and roles in film and new media, providing them with extensive employment opportunities.

Current status: Current student I'm really glad I chose the Department of Theatre and Imaging. I have no regrets. I met many like-minded friends here, and we did lots of crazy things together — staying up late to film and edit, putting on two performances, and working through countless nights. We built a kind of teamwork that can’t be replaced. In this one and a half years, I’ve gained so much and also found the direction of my future career. “During my years of study, we learned the real workings of theater by participating directly in various productions. Many tasks required us to start from scratch with our classmates, handling everything from early preparations to execution details on our own. Although this hands-on learning approach was challenging, it brought us closer to the realities of production work and strengthened our ability to react and solve problems on the spot. Because of the solid foundation built in school, I was able to adapt quickly to the fast-paced environment of freelance theater work after graduation and approach each task with greater confidence and independence.”
Graduate year: 2022 I began my studies right as the pandemic unfolded, and it felt like I might finish the entire diploma alone in my room. But drama and visual storytelling are, at their core, about human connection; without people, there is no story. That belief kept our lecturers and classmates finding small, safe ways to stay connected. Looking back, those days still feel surreal, almost dreamlike. A lecturer once asked us during an online class on a tiny screen: “When the world finally opens up, what’s the first thing you want to do? Or will you realise that you haven’t moved from where you started?” That question has stayed with me, long after graduating. It reminds me why this programme mattered: even in uncertainty, it taught me to stay open, stay present, and keep seeking the connections that make stories worth telling.

“Before joining this program, I hardly knew anything about theatre. In contrast, film felt more familiar because it is something we encounter every day. I was uncertain at first, but soon I realized how lucky I am to be here. This department is not just a place to study it has become my second home. Through every rehearsal, every discussion, every moment of encouragement and guidance, I learned that we are not moving forward alone, but growing together. Because of this group of people who are willing to support and learn with one another, I am motivated to continue my journey in theatre and film.”
Graduate year: 2024 During the two and a half years I spent in the Drama and Visuals Department, I was like an apple slowly ripening on a tree. Through the journey from being inexperienced to becoming more mature, I learned a different way of expressing myself—realizing that expression doesn't always require words. Through creation, I could gradually release the voice inside my heart. In rehearsal and performance classes, each exercise was not just done in pursuit of “perfection,” but felt more like a continual process of deconstructing and discovering myself. Every time I stepped onto the stage or faced the camera, I became more aware that we are not here to become what others expect, but to move closer to the person we truly want to be. The two and a half years in the Drama and Visuals program taught me that life doesn’t have to follow what society calls the “proper path.” When we follow our hearts and embark on our own journey—that too, is a form of courage.

Graduate year: 2025 Life after graduation isn’t as difficult as I once imagined, it’s just quieter without the friends who used to fight alongside me. In the Drama and Visuals Department, I learned more than just professional skills. Collaborating with different units during my studies helped me slowly build connections, and I was fortunate to be involved in various large-scale productions outside of school, where I gained even more industry experience. I’ve come to feel that school is really a place to strengthen your mindset, to shape the attitude and resilience you need to face all the “firsts” that await you.

Graduate year: 2025 Although I graduated not long ago, I’ve truly learned a great deal over these two and a half years, and I’ve also gained many valuable relationships. In my memory, the Department of Theatre and Film is no longer just an academic program—it has become a big family. Here, I not only learned abundant knowledge and gained experience related to stage and film production, but also encountered many challenges (such as completing a stage production or a film festival project). Throughout these challenges, I had to learn how to communicate with others and figure out how to fulfill my responsibilities using the abilities I already had, growing step by step in the process. “The Diploma in Drama & Visual at New Era University College trained me from someone who only knew how to perform into someone who can even handle technical work when needed. The teachers don’t just teach artistic skills — they also care about attitude, stress management, and basic manners. As someone studying far from home, they became my support system on campus. Drama school can be exhausting and sometimes makes you doubt your choices, but the sense of achievement is real. Now that I’m studying in Taiwan and looking back, I’m truly glad I chose New Era. Graduate year: 2020 Life is full of choices, and every time we need to decide something, it always feels difficult. We worry about choosing the wrong path and worry that we might regret it in the future. I used to struggle for a long time about whether I should go to university. In the end, I just asked myself one question: “Which path do I really want to walk?” The answer might not be the “correct” one, but at least it was what my heart wanted. After I started walking this path, I realized it wasn’t easy at all. I felt tired, frustrated, and even doubted myself. But every time I pushed through, I felt thankful, because this was the path I chose, and I kept going. A choice might not change everything immediately, but time will show the value of your effort. No matter what decision you’re struggling with now, trust yourself a little more. You will eventually reach the place you want to be. Life is an open-ended question—there’s no perfect answer. As long as you stay true to yourself, that’s enough.

Graduate year: 2019 During my university studies, the comprehensive theoretical and practical courses provided me with a solid professional foundation, while greatly enhancing my analytical thinking and creative abilities. I also had the opportunity to join my lecturer on a trip to China for the China–ASEAN Nanning Drama Week, where I served as a technical crew member and gained valuable hands-on experience. After graduation, I worked in film production as a script supervisor and production assistant. Two years ago, I founded Eiga Production, focusing on event, weddings, and commercial videography, and I continue to pursue my passion for visual storytelling with professionalism and dedication.

publicist. Those hectic yet meaningful days helped me truly see myself, and reminded
me why I stayed in theatre: like life, it happens only once, with no replay button.
Countless late nights with the team, every trial and error, taught me not just skills but how to listen, understand, and communicate. Growth is quiet; it happens in small, unnoticed moments.
