In 2002, New Era College offered a Diploma in Guidance and Counselling programme that was managed by the former Centre for Continuing Education. This course was specifically designed for adult learners with the objective of training and nurturing high quality Malaysian Chinese-speaking counselling volunteers. Following the establishment of the Department of Guidance and Counselling Psychology in 2006, the diploma programme was upgraded to a 2+2 Credit Transfer Degree Programme between NEUC and the National Taiwan Normal University. The 2+2 Credit Transfer Degree Programme was provisionally accredited (PA9586) in 2009 and then fully accredited (A9586) in 2014 by Malaysian Qualification Agency.
Graduates from this Credit Transfer Degree Programme will be well prepared for employment in a wide range of areas dealing with human well-being such as school counselling, community counselling, career counselling, and social work.

“The beauty of small class size is that it fosters a close relationship between lecturers and students. Each student’s well-being was taken cared, and lectures matched class culture. I felt safe to share my struggles and sweetness in the classes, and through knowledge learned, it had enhanced my self-understanding. I felt highly grateful that spending two years studying in GC promoted a holistic growth in me.”
