This course has been a journey that has expanded my knowledge of design in many ways. As a Diploma graduate of Digital Media Design, there were many graphic design skills and concepts I had not been exposed to. However, through this course, I have learned numerous design skills and knowledge that I didn't even know I needed! I discovered that packaging design is much more interesting to me than I expected, and I also realized I have a strong interest in video editing. None of this progress is solely because of my eagerness to learn, but mostly thanks to my lecturers, who have supported me both during and outside of class. My journey is ongoing, and I am determined to learn as much as I can!”

Current status: Current student My name is Chai Zhe Shuan, and I’m currently a Year 1, Semester 2 student in the Diploma in Visual Arts (DVA) programme. Compared to other majors, DVA offers a broader and more hands-on learning experience, especially in ceramics, printmaking, photography, and painting. In ceramics, shaping clay with my own hands, feeling its texture and watching it slowly form into a bowl or cup, is incredibly satisfying. Printmaking teaches me the full process of creating prints, from selecting a theme to carving the lino block and finally seeing the design appear on paper. Photography helps me understand composition and notice beauty in everyday life, and pressing the shutter to capture a meaningful moment brings a different kind of joy. Beyond studio work, I also learn digital skills, communication, and creative thinking. Overall, studying DVA has been enriching and fulfilling, and I feel motivated to continue learning and exploring new possibilities in the arts.
