Tey Shi Bin, born in 1984 in Johor, Malaysia, with ancestral roots in Yong Chun, Fujian, currently resides in Selangor. She graduated with First-Class Honours from the Chinese Department of the University of Malaya. She has been awarded the 'Chinese Government Full Scholarship' for her studies in China, a recognition endorsed by the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia, the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia, and the Chinese Department of the University of Malaya. In 2010, she obtained a master's degree in Ancient Chinese Literature from Central China Normal University, China, receiving honours for Outstanding Thesis and Outstanding Graduating International Student. In 2014, she attained a doctoral degree in Chinese Classical Philology and was again recognized for an Outstanding Thesis and Outstanding Graduating International Student. After graduating, she promptly joined the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at New Era University College (NEUC) as a full-time lecturer. In January 2018, she was promoted to deputy head and assistant professor. On April 1, 2019, she was appointed as the founding Dean of the Institute of International Education (IIE), overseeing the exploration and development of international initiatives on campus. Furthermore, she broadened her role to assume the position of Director of the Marketing and Sales Department in June 2020 and founded the Branding and Creative Department in August 2023. In January 2024, she was further promoted to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International and Corporate Development). Nevertheless, her academic journey has also reached its pinnacle with a promotion to Associate Professor in April 2022. To date, she has authored several books, including "The Classical Literary Language Novels of Qing Dynasty that recorded in Qingshigao Yiwenzhi BuBian and Shiyi" (monograph), "The Translation Annotation and Commentary on The Dream Pool Essays" (co-author), "Synopsis of the Chinese Classical Electronic Documents Database” (co-author) and "Embracing Humanism and the Journey to Peace: The World University Lecture Series by Daisaku Ikeda" (chief editor). Additionally, she has published over 20 academic papers in significant journals both domestically and internationally, including core journals indexed in China's CSSC. She also delivered and hosted nearly 90 specialised lectures, participated in approximately 20 competitions as a judge, and earned multiple literary awards. Furthermore, she served as a columnist for "China Press - Feature," a brand copy consultant, and writer. As a certified Trainer by the Malaysian Ministry of Human Resources (TTT, Train The Trainer), her expertise includes delivering courses on classical literature, modern management, copywriting, and brand marketing. She passionately advocates for the integration of modern and creative methods to rejuvenate classical knowledge and highlight the beauty of the Chinese language. Her dedication extends to preserving Chinese culture, fostering the development of Chinese education, and advocating for the application of the Chinese language in Malaysia.
