Résumé of Speaker:
Abstract:
Photographers began to find ways to make their own creation unique from others with the contemporary advancement in digital cameras and photo-retouching software. These have made photography easy to create, even professionally. Many photographers who create their artwork through film and a variety of darkroom techniques are faced with difficulties and limitations in the face of advancements in retouching software which are easy to use and save time. This has led me to reflect on the question of “What else can photography do?” in an attempt to improve the artistic values of photographic artwork similar to those of painting. My research has received the support and guidance of Professor Chen Tsun-cho (Taiwanese famous photographer). With his guidance and study of artworks, I have been able to discover concealed spatial images, stereoscopic images and those of illusion movements through an understanding of the advanced photography techniques and scientific knowledge. It is emphasized that these images are the creations of advanced photography techniques rather than by means of software modification and retouching. In this seminar, I will explore the possibilities of photography and its potential for enhancing its ornamental value.
