Résumé of Speakers:
        Dr. Tey Nai Peng was an Associate Professor in Statistics and currently the Coordinator of the Population Studies Unit, Faculty of Economics and Administration, University of Malaya, and a member of the International Advisory Board to promote the use of IPUMS data. He is coordinating a research project funded by UNFPA on “Enhancing Demographic Research and Training for Development Planning” and has supported more than 50 mini projects that have resulted in 25 articles in journals and books. He is keen to organize meetings with universities to promote research on population and related socio-economic issues.
        Dr. Lai Siow Li is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Economics and Administration, University of Malaya. Her research interests include multivariate analysis, econometrics, statistics, and demographic studies. She was a 2017 recipient of the Leslie Kish Fellowship of the Institute for Survey Research Techniques at the University of Michigan, USA.

The speakers will deal with, among other aspects, the following:
1. How to access national and international data from population censuses and surveys.
2. How to start a research project - conceptualization and operationalization.
3. Common problems in starting a research.
4. How and where to publish research findings and literature reviews.
